Soccer is the most popular sport on the planet, and it is growing in popularity and excitement with each passing decade. As a football fan, you’re probably aware of some of the rules that the game’s governing organization, FIFA, has established under the (IFAB) International Football Association Board.
The Laws of the Game specify in the section “Additional Instructions for Referees and Assistant Referees” that “removing one’s shirt after scoring is superfluous, and players should avoid such extreme excitement.
You might be asking why FIFA prohibits players from removing their shirts. Regardless of the reason, a player who removes his shirt will be given a yellow card by the referee. According to the International Football Association Board, this is the case (IFAB). Excessive goal celebrations should be avoided, and stripping off your shirt is one such example.

After scoring a crucial goal for their side, most footballers remove their shirts in an intense celebration. Other footballers may remove their shirts to display an undershirt that contains a message they want to disseminate.
THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF THE REASONS WHY IS NOT PERMITTED:
- Clubs of football Sponsors do not approve of a player removing his shirt in celebration after scoring since the pitch cameras focus on that one player to collect his information, which includes sponsor information, and when the shirt is off, details of sponsorship will not be displayed.
- Taking off shirts is regarded as a waste of time because the player will spend time rejoicing before putting it back on. The referee will not book the player until he puts on the shirt.
- Some players may remove their jerseys to display a slogan tattooed on their body or printed beneath their vest. Some of the messages incite riots among team fans because they may be political, religious, or racially charged.
