Why Erling Haaland decided to join Manchester City over Real Madrid
Erling Haaland chose Manchester City over Real Madrid, and the reasons for his decision have been made public.
Nevertheless, as soon as it became known that Haaland would be leaving Borussia Dortmund in the summer, several clubs across the continent started vying for his services.
After several weeks of rumors, Haaland’s signing with City, the team his father played for, was made official.
His agent, Rafaela Pimienta, has now explained why Haaland selected the Etihad stadium over Real Madrid.
“He came from a football family, you know,” Pimienta told Diario AS. “You already know that his father played. He grew up in that environment as a result, as evidenced by the photos of him as a baby sporting a Manchester City shirt.”
So, according to me, “I think it was a personal thing, and I also think he wanted to experience the Premier League.”
Additionally, Pimienta replaced the late Mino Raiola as the leader of their agency. But Pimienta now has some of the biggest football stars under his command.
There have been numerous discussions regarding Haaland’s form since the new year. He quickly demonstrated his abilities, though, by scoring a hat trick against the Wolves.
Pep Guardiola claimed Haaland is undroppable after that game. He said: “When he scores, I don’t know how many hat-tricks and goals. He is our team’s solution, as well as a problem when he doesn’t score, according to some. This is a gloomy illustration of the situation.”
“We are familiar with each other and with his character. He shouldn’t be dropped as a player. We cannot play a false nine against him; instead, we must adjust, and I believe we are succeeding.”
The city will play Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon to return to Premier League action this weekend.
