Top Players That Are Still Available As Free Agents

Despite the transfer market being open, a few top players in Europe are still unsigned.

For the past few weeks, the summer transfer market has been open, and players have been switching clubs. While some players chose to explore a new challenge abroad this summer, others chose to extend their contracts.

The summer transfer window this year was full of twists and turns. Even though the transfer market will be open for the entirety of the following month, some top players are yet to join a new team after leaving their prior clubs.

  1. Edinson Cavani

Among the best players that are still unsigned, Edinson Cavani is one. Following the expiration of his contract, the Uruguayan international left Manchester United this summer.

On the final day of the 2020 summer transfer window, Cavani signed a free agent contract with Manchester United. He was a seasoned Manchester United player who was well-liked by the fans.

Because of his several match-winning exploits, Cavani was a fan favorite at Old Trafford. Cavani, though, has a history of injuries while playing for Manchester United. He played fewer minutes due to Cristiano Ronaldo joining from Juventus.

  • Isco 

In the early 2010s, Isco was among the best midfielders. Isco had greater technical skill than the other Real Madrid players.

The central midfielder’s performance on the field was however impacted by Real Madrid’s change of coaches. Isco battled with the Los Blancos in his final seasons as he developed into a routine player. In the previous two seasons, he only made 11 starts.

Isco left Real Madrid at the beginning of the current summer transfer window, but he has not yet found a new team. One of the unsigned free agents, he’ll find a new team before the window closes. However, AS Roma, Real Betis, and Sevilla are keeping an eye on Isco.

  • Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey was one of the top midfielders in Europe when playing for Arsenal. Any midfield position is a possibility for the Wales international.

2019 saw Ramsey leave Arsenal and join Juventus. As Ramsey had anticipated, things did not go well with Juventus. Finding a squad where Aaron Ramsey can play is a top priority for him. He desires to play for the Wales team in the 2022 World Cup competition.

  • Dries Mertens

A great Napoli player of all time is Dries Mertens. The international from Belgium has scored more goals than any other player in Serie A history for Napoli. Mertens, who scored 113 goals in Serie A for Napoli, left the team this summer.

This summer, the Belgian forward decided to depart Napoli as a free agent after declining to extend his contract there. He still has his options open. Mertens, nevertheless, will come across a team in the upcoming days because of his caliber.
