Todd Boehly wants the Chelsea striker to leave in the post season.
As Romelu Lukaku’s popularity at Stamford Bridge declines, the Belgian forward may be for sale, according to Todd Boehly.
Sport Witness claims that this is the case and that Boehly “no longer wants” Lukaku because he is not part of the long-term project.
You can understand Boehly’s perspective because the Inter Milan loanee will turn 30 in May. However, the player’s misbehavior from the prior campaign probably did not help his chances of becoming the leader Chelsea was looking for to change their fortunes. Chelsea paid a club-record sum for Lukaku’s services in the summer of 2021.
Serie A starts this season
Lukaku has only made seven Serie A starts this season, but he has two goals. Despite this, Inter hopes to sign him to a permanent contract this summer.
Lukaku was likely to lead Chelsea to the Premier League championship after his return.
Lukaku expressed dissatisfaction with his circumstances at Stamford Bridge in an interview with Sky Italia in December of that same year. Moreover, he criticized Thomas Tuchel’s tactics and stated a desire to return to Inter, where Chelsea had signed him.
After the interview was made public, the Chelsea team’s dynamic changed. However, Lukaku reportedly fell out with Tuchel and several Blues players, and in June, he did return to Italy.
Lukaku New Dream
The likelihood of Lukaku returning to Chelsea is drying up. Especially now that the Blues have Kai Havertz, Joao Felix, and David Datro Fofana, whom they acquired from Molde during the summer.
According to a recent Fichajes report, Lukaku won’t be moving back to Chelsea during the summer transfer window. But Lukaku now fantasizes about joining Real Madrid.
Madrid will soon need a new striker as Karim Benzema enters the latter stages of his career. Could Boehly’s sale of Lukaku be yet another genius move on his part? Blues supporters would like to believe so, given the way Chelsea seems to be planning for the future.
