PSG fan put up an anti-Messi banner outside the Inter Miami Stadium before his MLS debut
Before making his MLS debut for Inter Miami, Paris Saint-Germain supporters paid tribute to their late icon Lionel Messi.
It was only natural that Messi would make his MLS debut in the most Messi-like way imaginable. Moreover, scoring a goal in front of an exuberant Inter Miami supporters’ away crowd.
The method of achieving the aim made it even better. In the 89th minute of the game, Messi both started and finished the goal, effectively securing the victory.
However, his former PSG fans made sure to express their disappointment at the Argentinian star’s departure before the game. They accomplished this by erecting a banner critical of Messi outside the DRV PNK stadium.
The Parisian club’s ultras have previously been vocal about their dislike of Messi, protesting his unauthorized travel to Saudi Arabia last season.
Messi and PSG fans
Messi’s problematic confrontations with PSG supporters have received extensive media coverage. Additionally, it appears that they were relieved to get rid of the Argentine who won the World Cup.
In a recent interview, he mentioned a “break” with PSG supporters. Additionally, he described his struggles to fit in with the Ligue 1 champions.
Fast forward to now, and Messi appears to have had no trouble adjusting to life in the United States. He already has the Leagues Cup under his belt, along with his Inter Miami teammates. He has now had the best possible start in the MLS as well.
PSG’s ultras have already shown similar ruthlessness to other club stars. Neymar has also been the target of a great deal of criticism from their end.
Ligue 1
During their Ligue 1 match against Lens on Saturday, they displayed a banner for the Brazilian that said the same things as the Messi banner.
In any event, it appears that, there will be no quick mending of the walls between Messi and PSG supporters. With Inter Miami as his new home, the Argentine sensation is able to continue to enchant audiences in the United States.
