Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pushing for a free transfer to Barcelona
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly pushing to return to Barcelona in the upcoming months, according to a report by the Spanish outlet SPORT. In the summer transfer window, the Gabonese striker also wishes to leave Chelsea as a free agent. This is as a result of the financial difficulties facing the Catalan giants.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has fallen far short of the feared striker he once was. The 33-year-old finished those seasons as the league’s leading scorer in both the Bundesliga and the Premier League. But over the past two years, his stock has significantly decreased.
Despite playing for Barcelona only for the second half of the season last year, he managed to score the joint-most goals, so he would have liked to have revived his career. But after Barcelona signed Robert Lewandowski in the summer, Aubameyang’s time there came to an end. On the day of the deadline, he traveled back to England to join Chelsea.
The former captain of Arsenal, however, has not distinguished himself this season. And through 21 appearances for Chelsea, he has only been able to contribute three goals and one assist. Aubameyang wants to return to Barcelona in the summer transfer window because his time at Chelsea is in vain.
However, that presents a challenge for both Barcelona and Aubameyang because Chelsea won’t let the Gabonese striker go. The former captain of Arsenal is attempting to leave the West London team as a free agent during the summer transfer window. It will be intriguing to observe whether the Blues are willing to heed his request.
According to recent reports, Chelsea may have to let the 33-year-old go after making significant spending during the previous two transfer windows. It will be interesting to see if everything comes together just right for Aubameyang and Barcelona.
