Phil Jones is leaving Man United after 12 years with the club.
The 31-year-old, who has earned 27 England caps, appeared in 229 games for United and scored six goals.
The defender joined in 2011 from Blackburn Rovers and was a member of the 2012–13 Premier League champions.
In a club interview, Jones said, “I’ve worked tirelessly hard; I literally left no stone unturned.”
Every time I’ve been away in the past two years, I’ve tried to return as soon as possible.
At the conclusion of last season, he made his final United appearance in a 3-0 victory over Brentford. He has missed all of this season due to injury.
“I wished I had more time to play. I regret not being able to contribute more to the various squads I played on. Jones wrote in an open letter to Manchester United supporters, “I will say, from the bottom of my heart, that I did everything I could.
There’s no denying that the past couple of years have been very challenging, he continued in his club interview.
“My family has been incredibly helpful in keeping me on track, focused, and motivated to try to get fit and play more,” she said.
“I believe the game against Wolves [after returning from injury last season] was the high point for me.
“That was just a brief, unforgettable moment. Now that I think about it, goosebumps come to my skin. I mean, it took me a lot of effort to reach that level of fitness.
“That was a pivotal point in my career, and the crowd that day was amazing. They were incredibly passionate about that game and showed me incredible love for it.
I’m so grateful to them for that. They have consistently supported me during my time here.
Jones won the Premier League during his twelve years with the team, including Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season at United.
Additionally, he won the Community Shield in 2011 and 2013, the League Cup, the Europa League, and the FA Cup in 2016.
“Our number four is taking some time before deciding his next move,” Manchester United stated.
“Everyone at United wishes Phil the very best of luck in the future,” they said.
