Manchester United’s attempt to loan Sofyan Amrabat fails.

Manchester United is eager to have Sofyan Amrabat join their ranks, according to a report from 90min. Since the previous 18 months, the 27-year-old midfielder has been in incredible form.

Before the transfer window closes, the Red Devils are eager to bolster their midfield options. In order to create a lethal double pivot in the middle of the pitch, Erik ten Hag is in desperate need of another defensive midfielder.

Ten Hag has a few names on his list, but Amrabat from Fiorentina is top of his priority list. The 27-year-old midfielder lit up the FIFA World Cup 2022 last year. He was one of the finest players in the competition and helped Morocco become the first country from Africa to go to the semifinals of the international competition.

Amrabat consistently delivered at the club level for Fiorentina. The 2022–23 season saw them advance to two finals thanks to him. Even though he is a crucial member of the Italian club, they can decide to sell him before the transfer window closes.

The international Moroccan player’s contract expires in the summer of 2024. Fiorentina wants to keep the player longer, but he is not interested in staying and wants to transfer to a better team.

The 27-year-old has drawn Manchester United’s attention throughout the summer window, but they haven’t been able to sign him. The player and the Red Devils have a basic understanding about personal terms. However, they haven’t made a formal offer for his services.

Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund are already costing them a fortune to perform. Because of this, they can’t sign Amrabat on a long-term contract without going under FFP guidelines. Selling Fred and Dean Henderson did help them raise money, but it wasn’t enough. A couple more guys need to be offloaded, though.

The Red Devils approached Fiorentina about a loan deal with a buy option because a long-term transfer appeared highly unlikely. However, the Italian team turned down the deal because they wanted to make a profit off of the 27-year-old.
