Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez claims that each game is a championship for his team.
After Manchester City’s spirited 2-1 victory at Fulham propelled them back to the top of the Premier League standings for the first time since February, Julian Alvarez remarked that “every game is a final.”
The team of Marco Silva pushed City all the way and showed great resiliency after giving up an early penalty that Erling Haaland successfully converted.
In the fifteenth minute, Carlos Vinicius briefly tied the score, but Alvarez’s incredible long-range goal restored City’s lead, and they held on.
Alvarez told City’s website, “This is where we wanted to be at the start of the season.”
“Everyone has put in a lot of effort, and now that we’ve succeeded, we must maintain it.
Every game is a final for us, and we’ll all work together to give it our best shot.
Alvarez continued, “It was really nice to score here, a really important goal at an important point of the match. I’ve had to wait for opportunities in Pep Guardiola’s starting lineup. Very nice of you to contribute.

Premier League title race
“We knew coming here wouldn’t be easy because of the playing surface and the quality of the Fulham team. We were thrilled to hold out and withstand the pressure.
Following a largely impressive performance against a team still in the hunt for the treble, Fulham manager Silva was left to reflect on his team’s minor defensive slip-ups.
“We had a game plan that was very clear. With our wingers a little bit more inside, we wanted to move through the middle of the field, Silva said.
“They’ll look to expose other areas if you try to block some. The players executed their strategy well and stayed true to it.
“Our best moment in the game was probably right after we drew even.
The way we gave up the goal was unacceptable. Although Alvarez’s goal was excellent, some of our organizational structures prevent us from losing the ball in that way. As a result, we gave them a chance to counterattack.
“We rediscovered our competitiveness in the second half. That is true, but we also didn’t provide them with many opportunities or resources.
