According to reports in France, Lionel Messi has decided to commit to Paris Saint-Germain for another season.
The 35-year-old is currently celebrating Argentina’s World Cup victory there.
The agreement Messi with PSG would have been due to expire the following year. Barcelona has eagerly welcomed the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner back to Camp Nou.
The Argentine has been receiving significant transfer rumors from Major League Soccer.
There was widespread speculation that the Argentine superstar would join the MLS. His Paris contract expires at the end of this year. But he ignored his club’s prospects in favor of the World Cup, which he duly won in Qatar last weekend.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, expressed his desire to keep Messi at the Parc des Princes immediately following the game.
Le Parisien reports that Messi has finalized a preliminary agreement with PSG to stay in Paris for an additional year.
The report claims a preliminary agreement made when Messi’s father and agent, Jorge, met with PSG’s management during the World Cup in Qatar.
