Julian Alvarez “wants to quit” Manchester City less than a year after Erling Haaland’s arrival, Julian.
After joining the Premier League less than a year ago with Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez wants to quit Manchester City.
That Haaland had already surpassed the threshold to win the Golden Boot in England’s premier division last year seems little unbelievable.
The team led by Pep Guardiola isn’t dominating the league. This is a direct outcome of the striker’s entry being identified as the issue.
Another challenge for Guardiola is deciding not to select Haaland given how deadly the 22-year-old has been upfront.
And after being so crucial to Argentina’s triumph at the end of last year, that means much less football than World Cup champion forward Alvarez would have hoped for.
According to the Spanish publication El Chiringuito, the 23-year-old has informed the Etihad side that he plans to leave the team in the summer.
There had been discussions about his perhaps being loaned away. Sport Witness, however, states that the most recent information indicates that he wants to depart permanently.
City purchased Alvarez in January 2022. However, the team where he was acquired, River Plate, had him for the season’s remainder on loan.
He has currently appeared 19 times for the league champions. Only six of those contests, though, involved the starting lineup.
Despite initially only being a squad player, the Argentina star started nearly as many games during the World Cup before taking Lautaro Martinez’s place as the starter.
Due to his performance in the competition, he made headlines. He was also favorably compared to Haaland. Nevertheless, following a peculiar incident that made headlines, followers started a petition asking him to break up with his spouse.
The team is currently attempting to get him to sign a new contract. Despite having signed him to a five-year contract less than a year ago.
If he’s decided to leave, it might be challenging because Haaland prevents him from participating in first team football.
