Hugo Guillamon and Pau Torres’ agents are in conversation with Barcelona.
Hugo Guillamon and Pau Torres are the Barcelona-based subjects of interest, according to Helena Condis. The Spanish duo’s agent and the Blaugrana recently had a meeting where they talked about Jordi Alba and their futures. And they are considering raiding La Liga clubs Valencia and Villarreal for the players.
Hugo Guillamon joined Valencia when he was just nine years old. He made his first-team debut in February 2020 after moving up the Spanish club’s ranks. The 23-year-old has advanced significantly at the Mestalla since that time. The youngster has been a lone bright spot for Los Che this season, which has seen them potentially lose their La Liga status.
On the other hand, Pau Torres, who had a breakthrough season at Villarreal in 2019–20, has established himself as one of the top defenders in La Liga. The Spanish international has made over 150 appearances for the Yellow Submarine, chipping in with 12 goals and five assists. And Hugo Guillamon and Pau Torres have impressed Barcelona with their progress in the last few years.
In the summer transfer window, Barcelona will search the market for a left-footed center-back. Since sending Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet out on loan last summer, the Catalan giants have been looking for such a player. Recent reports have linked Barcelona with Inigo Martinez.
But since the Athletic Club defender’s acquisition isn’t guaranteed, Barcelona should have alternate center-back candidates on its shortlist. Thus, Pau Torres is a possible target for the Blaugrana as the summer transfer window approaches. The interest in Guillamon, meanwhile, follows a recent announcement.
Sergio Busquets will leave Barcelona at the end of the season. And the Barcelona captain’s exit will leave a gaping hold in the midfield department. Guillamon is thus an option worth considering as the Catalan giants search for defensive midfielders. And Barcelona recently met Guillamon and Torres’s agents.
Talking about Jordi Alba was the main topic of the meeting with the representatives. And like Busquets, Alba might leave Barcelona in the summer transfer window. But the Catalan giants are considering raiding La Liga clubs Valencia and Villarreal for Guillamon and Torres, respectively. The arrival of either club at Spotify Camp Nou this summer will be an interesting development.
