Frank Lampard claims that Raheem Sterling has been given the go-ahead to regain his best form and save Chelsea’s season. According to Lampard Sterling is “one of the best wingers in the world.”

The West Londoners’ domestic campaign has been terrible, and they have lost their last four Premier League games. Saturday’s matchup between Chelsea and Wolves ended in a loss for Chelsea.

Chelsea is currently in 11th place and is 17 points behind the top four teams. To get the Blues firing again, interim manager Lampard faces a significant challenge.

The team will then travel to Madrid, Spain, for the quarterfinal matchup against current Champions League champion Real Madrid, as winning the competition is now their only chance to win a trophy.

Sterling’s potential to end the season on a high note is something Lampard is hoping he can begin to demonstrate.

The Chelsea manager said, “I think he’s a fantastic player.

He has consistently been one of the best wingers in the world, and at times, in some people’s eyes, the best.

“I can’t recall how many times I’ve mentioned that the wingers when I was previously here, at Derby, and Everton, have watched Raheem Sterling and understand why he scores 20 goals or more per season.

I have spoken with Raheem a little bit over the past few days. To make the team structure best for the players, we must also motivate them.

I’ll talk to Raheem more. Simply put, I believe he is a top player. Raheem has demonstrated his abilities as a player.”

Lampard continued, “Yeah, possibly,” when asked if Sterling can improve for the trip to Madrid.

“Although I haven’t watched every Chelsea game this season, he is unquestionably a player of high caliber and high confidence. He won’t be bothered by it.

“He excelled at games like that in the past. Undoubtedly, we will rely on that. Although Raheem has the experience, some members of the squad may be a little younger.”
