Chelsea vs Newcastle Preview and Prediction.
When Chelsea plays host to Newcastle United on Sunday night at Stamford Bridge, they will be desperate to cap off a miserable 2022–23 season on a high note. Frank Lampard’s preparations for his team’s final game are not being hampered by any fresh problems.
N’Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella, Reece James, and Mateo Kovacic are still on the sidelines. However, Lampard has access to every other resource this weekend and can put together a starting lineup that is reasonably strong.
Following his recovery from a pelvic condition, Mason Mount has started training again. But Lampard said in his pre-game press conference that the England international’s participation against Newcastle United this weekend is “touch and go.”
Newcastle’s participation in the Champions League for the following season was assured when they and Leicester City on Monday night played to a scoreless draw.
Eddie Howe’s team needs to win on Sunday and hope that Man United loses points at home to Fulham in order to move into a top-three spot in the Premier League. With 70 points from 37 games, Eddie Howe’s team currently sits fourth, two points behind third-placed Man United.
Despite having a fantastic season, Howe’s team has only won one of its last four league games. On May 13, Leeds United held them to a 2-2 draw in their most recent away game.
Newcastle defeated Chelsea 1-0 at St James’ Park in December. They will aim to win their first league series victory over the London club since the 1986–87 season. However, the Magpies have only triumphed on one of their previous 27 Premier League trips to Stamford Bridge.
