Chelsea supporters develop another theory regarding the Champions League after AC Milan’s victory.

After AC Milan qualified for the Champions League quarterfinals, Chelsea supporters were busy searching through the archives.

To advance to the round of eight for the first time since 2012, Milan took a slim 1-0 lead to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Wednesday night.

Spurs did not qualify for the Europe’s top competition after a cagey game ended in a 0-0 draw. Milan advanced after winning the overall contest 1-0.

The Theory

In addition, Chelsea supporters have developed a theory that they will win the competition as a result of the Serie A team’s triumph.

“Milan is in the UCL QF for the first time since 2011/12,” a supporter wrote on social media.

“Both times in the Round of 16, they defeated an English team.

“Chelsea signed seven or more players in 2011–12 Chelsea did not, however, advance past the first round.

“Before making the Quarterfinals this season, Chelsea made seven or more signings and dropped the first RO16 leg.

According to all three tweets, Graham Potter’s team will hoist the trophy in Istanbul in June as they believe history will repeat itself this year.

However, earlier, Chelsea supporters were talking about the “Borussia Dortmund curse.” The team that eliminated Dortmund in each of the previous four seasons went on to lose the championship, which is considered the curse.

Graham Potter

Stranger things have happened in the football world even though it might seem like they are clinging to nothing.

After the game on Tuesday night, Chelsea manager Potter said: “To win a game and advance to the last eight of the Champions League, you’d have to say it’s up there with wins and evenings in my career.

“The players and fans were fantastic this evening. We had to play a team that is winning 10 straight games and doing so well. I reflect on the two legs we deserved to complete. We played well in Dortmund, but we didn’t score; today we did.”
