Chelsea Ready To Sabotage Manchester United’s Attempt To Sign Frenkie De Jong

The transfer rumors claim that Chelsea is prepared to sabotage Manchester United’s attempt to sign Frenkie de Jong. The Stamford Bridge team is considering using the Manchester United target in a swap deal.

In the present summer transfer window, Chelsea has only completed the signings of Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling.

While Ousmane Dembele renewed his contract with Barcelona, their main transfer targets Raphinha and Jules Kounde were taken by the Catalans. Thomas Tuchel is considering a number of players to fill the holes in the midfield, including Frenkie de Jong.

Five center midfielders (Jorginho, N’Golo Kante) and two defensive midfielders are all that Chelsea has left (Mateo Kovacic, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Ross Barkley, Billy Gilmour).

Billy Gilmour and Ruben Loftus Cheek have been mentioned in transfer rumors as potential loan candidates for another team. Three of the seven players are starting their final year of contracts. Tuchel’s midfield is now thin as a result. The veteran Chelsea midfield can be strengthened and revitalized with Frenkie de Jong’s acquisition.

After an outstanding 2018–19 season, Frenkie de Jong signed a €86 million contract to join Barcelona. In each of the previous three seasons, he and Sergio Busquets have controlled the Catalans’ midfield.

With 98 La Liga appearances under his belt, De Jong has eight goals and nine assists. In 2020–21, when he had three goals and four assists, he enjoyed his greatest season.

Frenkie de Jong was one of the Dutch players and ex-Ajax players with whom the Red Devils were linked at the start of the summer transfer window.

However, the trade of the midfielder has reportedly been approved by both Manchester United and Barcelona.

The player has yet to agree on personal terms with the Premier League team, according to reports, even though the fact that both teams have reached an agreement on a deal worth €85 million (€75 million guaranteed).

Furthermore, it has been reported that Barcelona owes Frenkie de Jong £17 million in salaries. To leave Camp Nou, the player must release the outstanding salary, according to the coach.

He is unwilling to part with his wages, which is one of the main reasons he has chosen not to sign the contract with Manchester United.
