Chelsea makes a request for Filipe Relvas.
Filipe Relvas is the subject of interest from Chelsea, claims French publication Foot Mercato. The 23-year-old versatile defender has already received a request for information from the Blues. And in the current transfer window, the Portimonense player will run you less than €10 million.
Outside of his native Portugal, Filipe Relvas is a virtually unheard-of figure. The Portuguese defender, who graduated from SC Espinho’s youth division, spent his formative years at CD Feirense and that club. After brief stints at FC Pedras Rubras and Gondomar SC, he eventually found stability in Portimonense.
The 23-year-old struggled initially at Estadio Municipal de Portimao but has played regularly over the past two seasons. Relvas has played for Portimonense in 69 games so far, contributing three assists. Several prestigious teams, including Chelsea, have taken notice of the player’s development.
The Blues have a strong roster as a result of Todd Boehly and his group’s eye-watering spending since acquiring the team. Three center backs are also out for Chelsea due to injuries, which have decimated the team. Chelsea also needs a center defender because Wesley Fofana will likely miss the majority of the 2023–24 season.
As a result, the West London club should consider signing Filipe Relvas. The Portuguese defender is a desirable candidate for Chelsea because he can also play left back. As a result, he can serve as Ben Chilwell’s and Ian Maatsen’s fallback options. The Blues have already made a request for the player in the meantime.
The 23-year-old’s potential suitors, according to the source, include AS Monaco, Benfica, Besiktas, and VfL Wolfsburg. Relvas is a cost-effective option for Chelsea and other interested parties because Portimonense will expect less than €10 million to part ways with him.
But Tosin Adarabioyo, who is also on Tottenham Hotspur’s radar, will be the main target for AS Monaco. While waiting for the summer transfer window to close, it will be intriguing to see if Chelsea can outbid AS Monaco and the other suitors for the 23-year-old Portuguese defender.
