Inter Milan’s Simone Inzaghi says he has no fear of Manchester City.
As he gears up his team for the Champions League final matchup against the obscenely wealthy, treble-hunting team, Simone Inzaghi stated on Monday that Inter Milan is not afraid of Manchester City.
Inter will play in their first Champions League final since their last victory 13 years ago in Istanbul. City is the overwhelming favorite to become the continent’s first-ever kings.
They beat Real Madrid in the semifinals and winning the Premier League and FA Cup. Pep Guardiola’s City is playing in their second Champions League final in three years on Saturday.
There is no fear because we’re talking about a football game, Inzaghi told the media.
We respect them greatly, but we’re happy to have participated in this final because we fought so hard for it.
Erling Haaland has scored 12 goals in Europe this year, will be the competition’s leading scorer no matter what happens in Turkey. So Inter will need to fend off their potent attack.
Alessandro Bastoni, one of Inter’s defenders, acknowledged that the prospect of going up against the powerful Norwegian didn’t worry him.
“Murderers, not football players, are what you’re afraid of. To discuss fear would be a mistake, he said.
“Haland is not playing Inter,” Manchester City will play Inter.
“The tension is just right; there is no fear. Happiness, more than anything else… I am eager to enter the playing field.
Inzaghi added that he is still debating between starting either the seasoned Edin Dzeko or the potent Romelu Lukaku as Lautaro Martinez’s attacking partner for Inter.
Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has improved since April. He is once more the all-action center forward who won the Serie A championship and the hearts of Inter fans two years ago.
Former City forward Dzeko is Inzaghi’s go-to starter but Lukaku has scored seven goals and assisted five more in his last 11 games. Putting him in line to start for Inter in Istanbul.
“I haven’t made a decision regarding attack, midfield, or defense because I have the option to do so now. as I have for the last two months or so. As a coach, that’s the best thing, according to Inzaghi.
“Before Istanbul, we still have four training sessions… Coaches have doubts up until the very last second, if there is one thing I’ve learned.
