Champions League draw; Quarterfinals, Semi-finals, and finals.
In the quarterfinals of the Champions League, Real Madrid will play Chelsea, and Manchester City will play Bayern Munich. In the semifinals, the two Premier League teams might play one another.
With a 2-1 aggregate victory over Borussia Dortmund, the west Londoners advanced to the competition’s last eight. Premier League champions City thrashed RB Leipzig 8-1, defeating another German team.
The draw is no longer “sealed” or country-protected after the quarterfinal round. Since the team drawn first plays the first leg at home, clubs from the same national association can now compete against one another.
Real Madrid and Chelsea will play in a particularly challenging matchup. Although Pep Guardiola will face his old team Bayern Munich, Madrid has won the tournament four times in the last seven years.
Chelsea will play the first leg at the Bernabeu and the second leg a week later at Stamford Bridge. The challenging task of a second-leg trip to the Allianz Arena awaits Man City, on the other hand.
The defending champions of Serie A, AC Milan, play the incoming champions, Napoli, in an all-Italian match. The Inter-Benfica matchup was called off because they play in the same stadium as their local rivals. Benfica is currently atop the Portuguese league.
In addition to the semi-final brackets and the quarter-final draw, a third draw was there to determine the “home” team for the championship game.
Chelsea and Manchester City
The semi-final matchup between Chelsea and Manchester City represents a very challenging path to the championship game should each team win their respective quarterfinals.
While Italy hasn’t had a finalist since Juventus in 2017, they have a great chance to advance to the championship match in Istanbul in three months thanks to the three teams in one half of the draw.
The city is the odds-on favorite to win the Champions League, with Bayern Munich not far behind. Bayern defeated PSG in the round of 16 and is engaged in a heated title race with Dortmund this season, while three other teams are only seven points behind PSG.
