Bayern Munich and Barcelona plot part-exchange deal for Joshua Kimmich.

Joshua Kimmich may be available for sale by Bayern Munich in a part-exchange deal, claims a report from the Spanish outlet Fichajes. Barcelona is unable to pay the German international’s requested fee of €60 million. However, the Bavarian giants want Barcelona to work with Ousmane Dembele or Andreas Christensen.

Since switching from a right-back to a holding midfielder, Joshua Kimmich has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world. The 28-year-old is unquestionably Philipp Lahm’s heir and has served Bayern Munich well for some seasons. He is also a key player for his country’s side.

For Bayern Munich, the German international has made close to 350 appearances. And in those games, he contributed with 40 goals and 94 assists. However, Kimmich’s long-term prospects are unclear, and he could leave the Allianz Arena this summer. Barcelona has been made aware of the situation.

In the summer transfer window, Barcelona will actively search for a holding midfielder. Xavi Hernandez has two choices after Sergio Busquets leaves Spotify Camp Nou at the end of the current campaign. He could either sign a creative midfielder or use Frenkie de Jong at the base of the midfielder.

Barcelona can also look for a holding midfielder to replace Busquets. In the second scenario, Kimmich is involved. However, Barcelona lacks the resources to pay €60 million to hire the German international. As a result, they are considering a part-exchange arrangement.

According to recent reports, Barcelona may provide a key individual to hire Kimmich. And if the Catalan giants include Andreas Christensen or Ousmane Dembele in the operation, Bayern Munich will be amenable to such a deal. Thomas Tuchel prefers the latter and wants Bayern Munich to sign the Frenchman.

Tuchel may as well authorize Kimmich’s sale if the Catalan behemoths are willing to include Dembele in a part-exchange deal. Barcelona will be able to lower the player’s €60 million asking price as a result. However, the rumor seems absurd given that Xavi Hernandez wants Barcelona to renew Dembele’s contract.
