Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal have advanced negotiations for Granit Xhaka.
Granit Xhaka will likely return to the Bundesliga during the summer transfer window, according to a report by the Evening Standard. The 30-year-old midfielder is the subject of negotiations between Bayer Leverkusen and Arsenal. Furthermore, a deal will probably cost Die Werkself somewhere around £15 million.
Beginning at FC Concordia Basel, Granit Xhaka spent his formative years there. But he completed his studies at the FC Basel Academy before playing for the first team for a while. Additionally, the four-year stay with Bundesliga team Borussia Monchengladbach helped the Swiss international become well-known. Then he made a move to Arsenal.
The 30-year-old has had a wild ride at the Emirates, even briefly holding the position of captain for Arsenal. And under Mikel Arteta, he has been among the Premier League’s top midfielders. In contrast, Xhaka has improved this season; in 45 appearances, he has seven goals and seven assists.
However, given that Xhaka will enter the final year of his contract in July, his long-term future at Arsenal is uncertain. A new contract was reportedly being discussed between Arsenal and the seasoned midfielder in February, according to reports. But he’ll probably depart from Arsenal and head back to the Bundesliga, likely to Bayer Leverkusen.
Bayer Leverkusen recently entered the competition to sign Xhaka this summer. Under the guidance of Xabi Alonso, whose gameplay inspired Die Werkself, they have made great strides. However, they are already making preparations for the upcoming summer transfer window, with the former Arsenal captain emerging as a target.
With the exception of Kerem Demirbay, the Bayer Leverkusen midfield is inexperienced. Therefore, the Bundesliga team has a chance to sign Xhaka. Additionally, the report states that they have advanced negotiations with Arsenal regarding a deal for the 30-year-old. The seasoned midfielder will cost about £15 million.
