Arteta gives important Saliba’s injury update.
According to LondonWorld, the Frenchman’s back injury will keep him out for the remainder of the campaign.
According to Arsenal manager Arteta, the Frenchman won’t be playing against Chelsea on Tuesday night.
The 22-year-old hasn’t been part of the Arsenal team since suffering a back injury in the Europa defeat to Sporting last month.
Despite this, there was initially some hope that Saliba might be able to play in the 4-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad. However, due to the severity of his injury, he wasn’t taken on at all.
Saliba will likely miss the remainder of the season due to his injury, as was recently revealed.
“It’s fairly similar, but he won’t be present tomorrow. We won’t know where we stand until the next game,” Arteta said.
He has not changed at all over the past week.
In the meantime, Arteta has praised his team’s mentality for not being content with Champions League qualification following the loss to Manchester City.
If the Gunners defeat Chelsea, they might catch City. Pep Guardiola’s team does, however, still lead their title rivals by a game.
The goal, according to Arteta, is to win tomorrow.
“In light of the disappointment and the atmosphere at [the club], we need to take two actions. Recognize the contributions made by many club supporters in regaining our Champions League status. Already, getting there is challenging. At the beginning of the season, not many people had high hopes for us to accomplish that. To accomplish that, a lot of people put in good work, which we need to start appreciating.
“The second, and thing I like the most, is that despite accomplishing that with six games left – something that hasn’t happened at this club in more than ten years – we are still not happy, still angry, and we want more. That is the mindset we need if the club is to consistently rank among the best. In fact, over the past few days, I have loved that the most.”
